Planet Spark Reviews - Importance of Body Language in Public Speaking

Actions speak louder than words, but have you ever imagined what speaks the loudest, it’s body language. It’s the use of expressions, and mannerisms to communicate nonverbally, often done instinctively rather than consciously. Body language involves a host of nonverbal clues or signs such as gestures, facial expressions, body movements, eye contact, etc.

Communication happens over two channels: verbal and nonverbal, resulting in two distinct conversations going on at the same time. Research says that our communication consists of 35% verbal communication and 65% non-verbal communication. This implies that whatever we speak voluntarily comprises just 35% of what the other person makes out of us. The remaining 65% of information about us is learned from our body language.

Non-verbal communication plays a significant role in conjunction with spoken words and public speaking. Our non-verbal communication can reiterate our message, contradict our words, reinforce our statement, substitute the meaning of our sentences and complement the meaning of our words. Since non-verbal communication can either emphasize our point or contradict it, it is necessary to keep our body language in sync with our emotions. Any sign of conflict between body language and our words can make us appear untrustworthy and deceptive.

Body communication is a crucial skill to be honed and is better if learned in childhood. Body language speaks on our behalf, and that’s why it is one of the most important aspects to be focused on while interacting with others or publically. It is a skill that is highly valued and an essential part of public speaking.

The spotlight of leadership is often accompanied by a reminder of the powerful impact of body language. In today’s world, both political and business leaders are increasingly finding themselves on display. In all such scenarios, their use of body language will be inevitable. Signals conveyed through the body can change the way someone is perceived, alter the balance of power in a room, or even reveal what is really on someone’s mind.

All parents want their children to create a lasting impression in the family, school, and their social life, to make their presence felt. Even the smallest gestures they do unintentionally give a message to others. We, as parents, must know that positive body language in a child while they speak, is capable of cracking any difficult communication. Hence, these skills are ingredients for a bright future!

So why not give our children an early advantage by teaching them how to communicate not only through words but also via actions. A child who is mindful of body language will be able to complement spoken words to express thoughts more efficiently, creating an everlasting impact on others.

As rightly said, the most important thing in communication is hearing what isn't said. We, at PlanetSpark, help your child to break the barrier of unfamiliarity and form a better connection with the listener through the role of body language in public speaking.

The classes encourage students to use combination facial expressions, gestures, and movements of hands that convey their thoughts. Making this crucial skill a fun one, there are exciting mime activities, projects that the students work upon. Parents at Planet Spark Reviews say after enrolling their kids for these sessions they have seen drastic progress in their child. Now their child speaks confidently and is able to express his thoughts well. Seeing their child having better command over their body language, they are now ready to participate in any competitions.

Being nervous is a common feeling when it comes to Public Speaking. It’s much more evident and visible in kids through their body language. Training kids on the use of body language in public speaking can help them with confidence, credibility, influencing others, and creating a personal brand of charisma. It further helps them to form stronger personal and professional relationships, and makes them ready for the future!
